10 Psalms of Hope

“…speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.” Ephesians 5:19-21 CSB

Psalm 27:1-5; 13-14

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—whom should I dread?
When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell.
Though an army deploys against me, my heart will not be afraid; though a war breaks out against me, I will still be confident.

I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking him in his temple.
For he will conceal me in his shelter in the day of adversity; he will hide me under the cover of his tent;
he will set me high on a rock.

13 I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.

Psalm 37:1-6

Do not be agitated by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong.
For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender green plants.

Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act,
making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.

Psalm 51:10-12

10 God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not banish me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and sustain me by giving me a willing spirit.

Psalm 34:17-20

17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.

19 One who is righteous has many adversities, but the Lord rescues him from them all.
20 He protects all his bones; not one of them is broken.

Psalm 62:5-6

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.

Psalm 33:18-22

18 But look, the Lord keeps his eye on those who fear him—those who depend on his faithful love
19 to rescue them from death and to keep them alive in famine.

20 We wait for the Lord; he is our help and shield.
21 For our hearts rejoice in him because we trust in his holy name.
22 May your faithful love rest on us, Lord, for we put our hope in you.

Psalm 16:5-11

Lord, you are my portion and my cup of blessing; you hold my future.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

I will bless the Lord who counsels me—even at night when my thoughts trouble me.
I always let the Lord guide me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my whole being rejoices; my body also rests securely.
10 For you will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful one to see decay.
11 You reveal the path of life to me; in your presence is abundant joy; at your right hand are eternal pleasures.

Psalm 71:1-6

Lord, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced.
In your justice, rescue and deliver me; listen closely to me and save me.
Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress.
Deliver me, my God, from the power of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and oppressive.
For you are my hope, Lord God, my confidence from my youth.
I have leaned on you from birth; you took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always about you.

Psalm 121:1-2;7-8

I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life.
The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever.

Psalm 13:5-6

But I have trusted in your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in your deliverance.
I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me generously.
